As one of Canada’s premier advocacy organizations, we are seeking an accomplished, bilingual, results-oriented leader to join our team as the Director, Partnerships and Programs.
Reporting to the Vice-President, Member Services, you will use your superior leadership skills and understanding of scholarship and/or program management, international mobility and mission-focused programs to oversee and lead the Partnerships and Programs team in achieving their mandate.
As a member of the Senior Management Committee, you will contribute to setting the strategic direction of the organization, developing management policies and evaluating programs on organization-wide priorities.
Your responsibilities:
You will be responsible for the leadership, strategic orientation, development and implementation of Universities Canada`s government-funded international partnership programs and more than 140 scholarship programs on behalf of the private, public and non-profit sectors. This includes:
- Lead all negotiations of major new business opportunities and oversee the new business process with clients in the public, private and non-profit sectors;
- Be responsible for the continuous improvement of existing programs and the design, development and delivery of new programs;
- Play an external representation role and develop and maintain liaison networks with a number of government departments and agencies, members of the diplomatic community in Ottawa and international and national organizations in order to gather information, consult on issues and keep abreast of funding possibilities and other opportunities available to Canadian universities and/or Universities Canada;
- Play a leadership role in the evolving network and convening of scholarship administration providers in Canada; and
- Establish and oversee implementation of policies and procedures for project development and project management.
The ideal person for this role is:
- a strategic, bilingual (FR/EN) professional with 8+ years of progressive experience and success, including managing teams;
- tenacious and can easily translate strategies into concrete plans and actions to achieve desired outcomes;
- diplomatic in responding to internal and external clients and audiences;
- an adaptable coach who can manage people, projects and large budgets.
Your skills and abilities include:
- excellent knowledge of postsecondary issues and environment;
- knowledge of federal government departments;
- proven business acumen;
- a sense of initiative and ability to work independently;
- excellent oral and written communication skills in both official languages;
- an ability to analyze, understand and explain issues and events in complex policy fields, including an analysis of government projects/policies or any other initiatives that are likely to have an impact on Canada’s universities;
- holding a university degree, preferably in business, public administration or a related discipline;
- thriving in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment;
- a capacity to work at the senior levels of the university sector and other pertinent groups;
- sound judgement.
The position is based in Ottawa. Universities Canada has adopted a hybrid work model where employees are expected to work in the office a minimum of two days per week.
The hiring salary range for this position starts at $121,911 depending on experience. Candidates who do not meet all position requirements may be considered in an underfill capacity, in which case the candidate would be hired at a lower level than the position level.
