Universities Canada statement on Ukraine
Over the past week, the world has watched the invasion of Ukraine with outrage, disbelief and sadness.
Canada’s universities strongly condemn this invasion of a free, independent and democratic nation.
Canada’s universities have developed extensive linkages with Ukraine over many decades – including institutional partnerships, student exchanges, faculty exchanges and research collaborations. Canadian universities also include students and faculty from Ukraine, Russia and other countries impacted by the invasion.
Canada’s universities are supporting all faculty, staff and students affected by these disturbing events.
Canada’s universities are bringing their expertise from a wide range of disciplines to bear on the unfolding situation. They are also convening opportunities within their communities, for the general public and across borders to foster dialogue, build bridges and find solutions.
Canada’s universities will continue to work with all those who are committed to ending the war and returning peace, security and democracy to the people of Ukraine.
